Excel Doctors Volunteer Time to Cover Local High School Football Games

Excel’s doctors once again are volunteering to cover local football games to be there in case of injury. They are working multiple high school games and are really making a difference. We also donate reusable water bottles to all of the high school teams where we volunteer. It’s important to stay hydrated. If you see our doctors out and about working these football games, please say hi!

Excel Welcomes Dr. Josef B. Simon to Practice

Excel is pleased to welcome Dr. Josef B. Simon, MD to our practice!  Dr. Simon is a Harvard trained, Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who completed a spine fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital.  Dr. Simon specializes in Adult Spine Surgery and is currently taking new patients.

Greg and Karen are two of the most dedicated PTs I have ever worked with - which is why I continue to drive 45 mins for each session. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The entire staff, from Dr. Feiler to the front desk, are very dedicated and caring. Quote from Barbara B.

Excel Begins ‘Feature Friday’ Social Media Campaign

Excel Orthopaedic Specialists has created a fun ‘Feature Friday’ campaign for social media! Every Friday, our team will be picking a patient survey and featuring it across most of our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!) We will be choosing these winners from the surveys our patients have filled out; you can share your own comments here. At the end of each month, we will be picking a random winner from all of the surveys submitted that month to win a $50 Amazon gift card! Enter yourself by sharing your own comments on a variety of surveys that we offer. We began this campaign in order to better our practice standards and give you the best experience that we can possibly offer. At Excel, our mission is to treat every patient like a family member and we believe that this is a good first step to help us achieve this.

Physical Therapists standing with plaques during a recognition ceremony

Heroes Among Us: Excel Physical Therapists Recognized

Woburn, MA – It was a normal January morning up in Physical Therapy at Excel Orthopaedic Specialists. A patient was set up with a hot pack and was checked on multiple times. Each time he was perfectly fine, until he wasn’t. Carl became unresponsive and began to seize when his physical therapist, Terri Gigliotti, tried to wake him. She then yelled for someone to call 9-1-1 and her coworkers immediately responded and helped her get Carl to the floor.

That is where two other Physical Therapist Assistants stepped in: Bill Martin and Shayne Gaffney. Bill and Shayne provided five minutes or more of CPR until EMT’s could step in and take over. Everyone involved remained calm, responsive and professional. Teamwork and swift action are the main reasons why Carl made it to the hospital in time to make a full recovery.

Now, just a month and a half later, Carl is doing very well. Excel invited Carl and his wife, Carol, to our celebration of both his recovery and our lifesaving physical therapy department. Awards were given and hands were shaken, but nothing was more important than the words Carol had to share: “We almost lost him. I am so grateful to have my husband back and to all of you who saved his life.” There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Excel Orthopaedic Specialists is widely known as a regional center for excellence in orthopedic care.
